My daughter is 2 and I’m thinking of buying a pony for her also to be used as a companion pony for a friend’s horse. Do you think my daughter is too young? Also any breed I should look for? And where’s the best place to buy her a hat and other equipment?

This is my mare Stars. She is a Spanish Mustang and is very stubborn headed, but she is also my best friend. We have been through everything together; I’ve had her for 7 years now and we have taught each other a lot. I am able to stand on her and do some flips and moving mounts off of her. I have been trying to train her with clicks, so I can ride bridle and halter-less she will ride with a halter, but it is hard to stop her she will turn and everything else. I was wondering if anybody could give me some advice on how to finish training her?

I need help if anyone knows anything I can do for my girl. She is 26 years old with arthritis and ringbone though I have never had X-rays (can’t afford it right now) but the vet did say that’s what it is. She is on bute everyday. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? She has got a lot of spunk and I can’t handle seeing her in pain.

I have a horse with both cushing’s and laminitis who I have been using a new herbal product (cushy life) for. Cushy life is made with chasteberry, and is manufactured by James Hart Solutions. I have decided to do an essay with the title of “The advantages of using a herbal based remedy over established drug based treatments for Cushing’s disease and Laminitis in horses”. I was hoping if anyone wanted to voice their views on this topic or give me any information that I could use to support my essay. I would be very grateful please and thank you in advance for any comments or help.

Note from HOAH-From HorseChannel.com: “Diet is gaining significance in the management of Cushing’s disease. Antioxidants, such as vitamins E and C, could play a role in helping to support Cushing’s horses. Chasteberry (Vitex agnus castus) is emerging as an organic source of dopamine stimulation; while it hasn’t completely stood up to the rigors of scientific testing, many researchers are still looking into it as a source of treatment for equine Cushing’s disease.”

This is my boy Ben. He’s half thoroughbred and half Hanoverian. I’ve been riding him since last November and we jump great together. I do a lot of bareback with him cause we both like it a lot, and I’ve even jumped three foot doubles with him bareback. When I first started riding him, I could barely touch him without having him move away from me, and now he lets me hug him and he’ll even rest his head against me.

I want to go to the next level in our relationship and connection and try doing bridleless bareback. Ben tends to be really stubborn and even though he will do everything perfect without me even touching the reigns very much, as soon as I take the reigns off, he doesn’t listen to my leg or voice commands. I’ve tried using a lead rope across his chest like I’ve seen some people do, but it hasn’t worked either. Does anyone have any pointers? Or tricks I can try that will get me on the right track?

What do you think about imprinting when a colt or filly is born? Does a colt or filly that is not imprinted just as easy to wean from its mother?

This is my horse Cash and he has just started to founder. We have shoes on him and I had to cut him off of the ration and performance feed I had been feeding him. He is my barrel horse and he is 15. It’s very hard for him to put weight on and keep it on. Now that I have cut him off the feed, I don’t know what to give him that isn’t too hot and will keep him healthy? Is there stuff I can mix up together? Or different kinds of exercises?

I have a question for anyone who uses a Lunging Cavesson. I just bought one and found two rings on the band that goes behind the ears. one on either side. Now my question is what is it used for? At first I thought perhaps to put reins through but I don’t think that would work!

This is Sunshine. She’s supposedly 6 years old, but has a colt who is 3 and was just separated from him a year ago when I rescued them. Sunshine is a pacifino who is very spunky and well behaved and well taken care of. But lately, she’s been losing weight, but is still eating well! Somebody called ASPCA yesterday and said she was starving, which is not true! I’ve got 4 weeks to plump her back up and need advice quick before they take my baby! She has hay, Red cell, vitamin blocks, sulfur block, and sweet feed. What else can I do??? Vet says she doesn’t have any worms and is healthy…
