Question For Our Readers

Hi there, could really do with some advice. I’ve just got a horse and I see he has a big lump in his belly. He did have a big hay belly, then when I cut back on the hay, I’ve found this lump. I rescued him and I don’t know what to do. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

This is a picture of him when I first got him, but that’s not what he looks like now.

Not sure if you remember me, but I wrote to you a month ago about my cob that wouldn’t move. Well look at us now! I’m writing to thank you and all your followers for the support and suggestions on what to do! Thank you! Me and Bran are so happy now and he loves jumping.

My horse has super dry skin; mainly around her white eye and her shoulders. It’s gotten to the point where it’s peeling off. I was wondering if any of the readers had any suggestions. I live in Michigan and the weather is cooler now. Is there any herbal remedies I could feed her to help?

Hello everyone! This is my horse Kahluah. She is about 20 years old and partially gaited. My friends mom bought her a little over a here and we just clicked. I try to ride her and or just spend time with her as much as possible. She is very head shy and has a soft mouth and a lot of spunk. She has an extremely fast walk naturally and she’s been doing good learning how to slow down on our rides in town.

Trotting is not her thing being partially gaited but she will if asked. But every time I try to get her into a canter she jumps straight into a gallop and scares the crap out of me. And she doesn’t know how to slow down…She just locks her legs and slides to a stop. She’s almost thrown me a few times trying to work on this, but I don’t know what to do to get her to learn that life isn’t a race.

I’ve tried lunging her, but I don’t think anyone has ever done that and she’s terrified and will drag you around the pasture in a gallop. And then she will be afraid of me for a few days…It’s hard because I don’t know what kind of life she’s had and I feel every way I approach her she gets scared…Does anyone have any idea how to help?

I have an Arabian/quarter horse mare. She is 5 years old and is a chestnut overo pinto. Her mom is a solid chestnut and her dad is a red dun overo pinto, but my horse is getting little white spots all over her and I was wondering if there is a possibility that she could be turning into a strawberry roan even if her parents don’t have roan in them?

My horse is only newly broken and the man who did it said he was a dream to ride and was so good, which is great, but now he’s home and whenever I ride him, he refuses to move no matter how much I tell him to walk on; he just stands there! I’ve tried lunging before riding and that doesn’t seem to help. Anyone have any ideas of what I could do?!

This is my horse. She is a saddlebred mare, and is somewhere between 15-20 years of age. She is sweet and very pretty. I have a question: she is acting as if her back hips are hurting, so she won’t run, trot, lope all she will do is walk, her back legs are popping. When I try to lunge line her and make her trot, she will kick and buck, so it has to hurt. Is there anything I can do to help her, for a low cost? We don’t have enough money to see a vet, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what it could be?

This is my horse and I, Gypsy. I had just gotten her and I’m just getting use to her as she is with me. I’ve found out that she doesn’t really liked to hoof picked and when she picks up her hoof, she slams is back down. With her back legs, is seems like she’s going to cow kick me. I have decided to start training her. I have given her a daily routine of grooming, so she knows her hooves are going to be first and I give her a lot of good encouragement if she lets me hoof pick. I was just wondering if this is a good idea, or is there any other solutions? Help?

This is my new 15 month old mare. Her name is Saydee and we got her from the auction barn a couple days ago. I am still trying to find out what breeds could be in her. Someone said that she may have thoroughbred in her. What other breeds could she have?
