Six years ago I lost my best friend to brain cancer and my world pretty much stopped in it’s tracks. Soon after the pony that I rode became ill and passed away, the woman who owned the pony (Shetland/Arabian named Lily) along with my mother, surprised me with two beautiful horses. One was barely 5 months old and the other was a year and a half, They were full sisters. We rescued them from a not-so-good “farm” and trained them ourselves using a lot of Clinton Anderson’s methods. Me and Cookie never had a really good relationship, we were more like the 2 sisters that hated each other but always loved each other at the same time. It was me and her sister Spice that were bestfriends, she went everywhere with me. I rode her to the stable where I got my first job and we even went down Main Street in a near by town and walked through the McDonalds drive-thru. If you go to my Facebook page you’ll find a video of us doing bareback and bridle-less work from the other day, she is truly my best friend. But this one right here (in the picture) just got that title too. For some reason in the past 5 months something between us just clicked and now the 3 of us are inseparable. So I’ve had a lot of loss in my life and I still can’t go a day without thinking of my first best friend Lila that passed away only 6 short years ago, but now I know that I’ll always have my 2 beautiful fjords and Lila and Lily looking over me.
